Blanket Care
Washing, drying and storing merino wool blankets
Clothing and blankets usually have an attached fabric care label which will denote the type of fabricspresent in the garment and how to care for them. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's recommended care instructions.
As regular rules:
Use tepid water only when washing
-
Use specially formulated gentle detergents
-
Although hanging to dry is preferred, if you must dry in the machine, a popular thing is to throw in some wool dryer balls into the dryer during the cycle.
-
Since woolen blankets are usually stored when not required, it's important to protect them while in storage from pests and dampness you can easily store these blankets in a tightly-sealed bin or heavy plastic bag. If pests are a real concern in your area, you can add a few cedar chips
